One year ago today, I lost my dad to cancer. I still want to scream. I still want to cry. I still want him back. But all I can do is share part of the obituary I wrote for him. This ran in the Cedarburg News Graphic the week of March 14-20, 2010:
Ken had a generous, caring and serene nature that was immediately felt by everyone who met him. A lover, not a fighter, he was expert at defusing crises with humor. He always appreciated a good joke, and even a bad joke or two. He had an infectious smile, loved to laugh, and was constantly joking with the people in his life. Ken was intuitive and compassionate, always trying to help people or put a positive spin on life. His optimistic spirit gave him strength, and like his smile, rubbed off on everyone he touched. His honesty and loyalty made him well-respected by loved ones and coworkers alike. Ken was a generous man with a kind soul, and he will be greatly missed by his deeply saddened family, friends, and community.
